Roux Camp

Learning starts in the backyard.

Ok- what is it? Roux Camp is a hand’s on comprehensive educational program for the horse enthusiast from ages 8 and up. 

The simple mission of Roux Camp is so that students get a chance to experience caring for and interacting and most importantly engaging a horse into their world. 

What a wonderful skill to learn to communicate with something to much bigger than yourself that doesn't speak your language! 

Horse have so much to offer us, you can't possibly begin to get all of it on paper. It's a skill that transfers over to school, work, family, and self. 

If a student then wants to continue with a riding program they are are ready for a local trainer to obtain riding skills. Or if a student wants to keep visiting Dragonfly Farm and keep the relationships with our horses by grooming or helping around the farm. We are here to allow either growth, this program is designed for what the students needs are. The horses are the teachers that guide us to what we need to know moving forward. 

Cost:

$150 for new students, this includes a new text book they keep. $125 for returning students

A $50 non-refundable deposit is due at registration for either new or returning students. 

Hours: 9 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. 

This is a brown bag lunch program. We break for snacks and lunchtime, but the program does not provide food for our students.

July 15th - July 19th

August 5th - 9th

Monday: Ori

entation, History, Anatomy, Housing and Pastures

Tuesday: No Foot, No Horse! Farrier day! Anatomy, feet & leg care

Wednesday: Well Horse check, Nutrition, and 1^st Aid

Thursday: Grooming, Bathing, Braiding

Friday: Psychology, Games and Graduation!

Where: Dragonfly Farm, Bailey Hill Road, Poland
