2013 Roux Camp Session Information!

The 2013 Sessions

  1. Monday, April 15th through Friday April 20th
  2. Monday, June 24th through Friday June 28th
  3. Monday, July 15th through Friday July 19th
  4. Monday August 5th through Friday August 9th

We are hosting FOUR sessions this season!
Which one are YOU signing up for?

This Program is a week long study into the care and relationship you and horses can have. The hours of our sessions are from 9am to 3:30pm. We break for snacks and a lunchtime, but the program does not provide food for our students. This is a brown bag lunch program.

Cost: the tuition for our program is $150, per student, per session. A $50 non-refundable deposit is due at registration. The balance is due first day of classes. Our program does provide textbooks that are for the student to keep after finishing the program.

The outline of our curriculum is as follows, but is always subject to change. Sometimes the horses have better ideas as to what our students need to learn that day, or our students want to continue great conversation about what they are learning and we can provide everyone with the flexibility to what they want to learn when they are ready to learn it.

Monday: Orientation, History, Anatomy, Housing and Pastures
Tuesday: No Foot, No Horse – Farrier day! Anatomy, feet and leg care
Wednesday: Well Horse check, Nutrition, and 1st Aid
Thursday: Grooming, Bathing, Braiding
Friday: Psychology, Games and Graduation!

So, what IS the Roux Camp Program all about? It is a hands on, comprehensive educational program designed to prepare the beginner horse enthusiast for lessons or just a relationship with horses for the rest of their life. When our students finish our program they can choose to continue with lessons from a local trainer, or simply keep visiting Dragonfly Farm and keep the relationships with our horses by grooming or helping around the farm. We provide a very small staff:student ratio (1 teacher per 6 students) so everyone gets a good chance at learning the most they can about horses.

When you are ready to move forward in choosing a session please contact us and we can assist you further in the registration process. You will need the following forms to complete the registration along with your $50 non-refundable deposit.
